One wonky thing when posting a reply - I can't see any of the smilies, just the names / tool tips.

Just watched a nice doc about Suzi Quatro, who really had a massive career everywhere but the U.S., where she was primarily known as Leather Tuscadero and for her duet “Stumblin’ In,” with Chris Norman, Suzi’s only appearance in the American Top 40.

Tim Rice appeared, to comment on that song and her transition to musical theatre, as we get some nice footage of her in Annie Get Your Gun on the West End, and a show she produced, “Tallulah Who?”

And now that we can upload pictures again, here's my autographed duet CD from Meow Meow (who has just been cast as Mrs. Lovett in a regional production of Sweeney Todd in England) and Thomas Lauderdale of Pink Martini (a few other people signed it, too):

Yesterday morning, I received emails from two DRs to alert me to yesterday's HHW events. It took me about thirty minutes this morning to realize the Daily Discussions had a new URL with an "smf" prefix and to change the bookmarks on three different search engines.

Several weeks ago, when the temperatures were extremely cold, I worried about my health, as well as the cats' well-being. I was having a horrible time dealing with the radiator: you could either hang meat in the apartment or fry eggs on the radiator. During that period, when the temperature inside the apartment was just above freezing, I pulled a muscle in the right side of my back. So, I started lying on a heating pad; it kept me warm and I hoped it would loosen up the muscle. The heat was intense, but I didn't realize that I was giving a spot on my back just below my shoulder blades a very serious burn. Sometime around Feb. 9 I awoke around 3:00a.m. to discover that I had a huge blister on my back that had exploded, leaving my back and bottom sheet very wet.

The next day, I called Jen, who works out of her apartment, and asked her to come look at it. Later in the afternoon, after she walked Oscar, she came down, looked at my back, gave a shocked gasp, and said, "This is not good." She took a photo of it to show me amd sent it to her brother who's a doctor. He advised I go to an ER and be treated for a serious wound.

I had a problem with that: I had no money until Joshie paid me for that Library of Congress work I had done  or Social Security landed on the 18th. I couldn't afford to leave the apartment. So Jen covered a gauze pad with Neosporin and taped it over the burn. She came back and did it the next day. On Thursday, she threw a fit and told me nI needed to get my sorry ass to an ER. I called Joshie, got a partial payment, and on Friday I decided to go to CityMD, an urgent care facility, on 88th Street and Broadway. I booked Access-a-Ride for Saturday morning. Jen said she would help me get out of the building to the car.

On Saturday morning, Jen helped me and the walker get down the steps to the sidewalk; then she got a snow shovel and cleared a path through a snow drift to the street so I could get to the Access-a-Ride bus. She told me to call when I got back to the building. I saw a dctor at CityMD who gave be a bag of things like gauze pads, small packets of an anti-bacterial salve, etc. He said it was healinmg nicely, and I got a taxi and headed home.

Jen met me at the taxi and got me to the curb, where things went bad; my legs are now so pathetic that I can no long lift myself up. I could not get myself from the street to the sidewalk. Jen literally had to get behind me and lift me up to the sidewalk while I was panicking that I would fall and seriously injure myself on the concrete or a fender or bumper of the two cars I was standing between. I got to the building, and she had to lift me from the sidewalk into the building. Then I had the embarrassment of having her watchy me crawl up the five steps to the lobby on my hands and knees. I can no longer get myself in and out of the building.

The wound is itching, so I'm hoping that means it's healing. Jen is coming down this afternoon to dress the wound.
