Good night, all.

Finished with my viewing.

Had extra crispy orange chicken - the hot dog just grossed me out - don't know why, but the half order of orange chicken was great and not quite half an order, which was fine. Pill three needs something, light, food-wise, so need to figure that out.

It was too warm in this house, too!

It only went down to near 50 through the night, and I could literally have turned the heat completely off for sleeping. I woke up in the middle of the night and felt it was too warm, but I was so zonked that I didn't do anything about it.

Unless (or until) it gets very cold, I set my thermostat at 60°F and never need to change it.  I stay very comfortable...but that could just be me.

How is Shelly at that temperature?  I would be cold.

She has a thermostat and Cadet-style heater in her room.  She can set her own temperature.

I've always kept the temp of my house kinda low without being uncomfortable.

The delivery tracker now says it's six stops away.

Fingers crossed they are quick stops.  Are you at the house now?

So, here's what happened.

[George]

They did come to the house with the correct appliances!  Yay!!

[George]

They start unloading from the truck and one of the two guys comes inside, looks at the kitchen area, and starts to take out the dishwasher.

[George]

Then he asks how to turn off the water to the dishwasher.  He doesn't see a shut-off valve under the kitchen sink or anywhere in the kitchen!

He asks where the main shut-off valve to the house is.

[George]

I, of course, don't live there, so I have no idea.

[George]

I call my mom and she says that it should be outside, just to the left of the driveway, as you face the house.

[George]

I'm looking all over the place and under all the bushes and plants, but can't find anything!

[George]

I go to the other side of the driveway, just in case she didn't remember correctly, and nothing is there, either!

[George]

Just then, that neighbor comes home and I ask if he might know where the valve is, and he says that it should be on the left of each house.

[George]

He very kindly offers to help, so we both start looking and I actually find the box in the ground right next to the fence of the neighbors on the other side.

[George]

We get it open and he gets a wrench and is able to turn the valve!

[George]

I thank him and then I go inside with the installers who turn on a faucet to see when the water stops.

[George]

But it never does!

[George]

It just keeps running, so I call my mom again and she wonders if it will take a long time because there's a sprinkler system in the ground and maybe that all needs to empty out?  But the water never loses pressure!

[George]

I wonder if the valve actually was for the neighbors in the other side of the fence, but that just doesn't make sense.

[George]

Anyway, the installers and I talk and his suggestion is that he not install the dishwasher or the fridge (that has water plumbed in for the icemaker...also without a shut-off valve!) and we can reschedule the installation once we know how to turn off the water.

[George]

I tell them that we have no choice, so that's okay.  They can take them back.

[George]

Fortunately, it won't cost any extra to have them come back, so my mom is happy about that.

At first, she asked if they could leave them there and maybe she could get someone else to install them, but there is only a two-day return policy, and that starts once they leave...no one else would be able to come until next week, and if there are any problems with the actual appliances, then that window of opportunity will have passed, so they took back the new dishwasher and fridge and left the old ones in place.

Then, they brought in the microwave and installed that with no problems. 

[George]

WHEW!!

[George]

BUT, when they brought in the oven range, they saw that that had a dent in the side, and he thought that might probably be from a forklift or the liftgate on the truck!
