I've been seeing previews for Hamnet, which I would like to see. Has anyone read the novel? I'm puzzled that Anne Hathaway in this new film has been given a different name - Agnes - and I am puzzled.

I really loved Hamnet. It was a pandemic novel that came out during the pandemic. Some of it was truly brutal and beautiful at the same time. The scene where a body is prepared for burial had me tear up.

I think Hamnet was my favorite book of that year. So, I am nervous about the movie measuring up.

I survived the training. Tomorrow I get fingerprinted. Then I can start.

A fun approach to a Kander and Ebb song from Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Really fun!  Thanks for linking it. I'd never seen this before.

Jimmy Cliff has died. I loved his music and there’s still rumbles of a Broadway version of The Harder They Fall.

During one of Rachel Ray’s SXSW parties, I got into the photo pit and watched Cliff play from about five feet away. It was a thrill.

The Noel Coward recording just used was written about 10 years after the setting of the movie. And though he’s singing, the song, I’m Old Fashioned, was written by Jerome Kern. Nitpicking, to be sure.

I just got a minor character in Downton mixed up with a character in The Gilded Age.

The Queen of Versailles is closing.

The last performance is January 4. This is why I wanted to see all these shows in November soon after opening. Of the three musicals I saw, this was the clear candidate to close the earliest.

The credits are rolling. Downton Abbey is now at rest. A lovely final image in the credits.
