Well, you've read the notes, the notes solved a mystery, and now it is time for you to post until the solved cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SLEUTH!
-
Trying to get the photos to show up in the notes - but they're there and if you click in the large blank spaces they'll show up and then use your back button to go back to the notes.

Last night, Freddie asked:
Do Oreos not have expiration or "use by" dates on them?
Yes, they do have "Best By" dates on them, but if the package isn't opened, I don't worry too much about opening and eating the product(s) past that date. I just make sure that I eat them more quickly once they're opened. :l
And:
Thanks, Kevin, for the Wordle comment, and Good job for your Wordle score!
-
And clicking on the photos' blank spaces works! That's pretty darned cool that you were able to identify the area, BK!
-
Good morning.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all.

Amazon had a weird sale during my insomnia bout last night. The CD of the original Philadelphia cast of Bob Merrill’s Prince of Grand Street was $7.71. It’s $33 this morning. Glad I ordered a copy.

Did you order the copy in a dream?

Really clever and pointed one.
Hoping Trump never targets him, though. He seems to keep getting closer and closer to the line, and keeps going for it.

Excellent solving of a mystery in the notes. These L.A. photo mysteries are wonderful, and BK is way better than I would be at solving them.
In this one, with no theater name on that parking sign, I might have thought there was nothing to go on except for that white building, which I never would have recognized and don't remember at all. BUT ... if Belmondo had been an inch or two to the left, OR if the photographer had been an inch or two to the right, the little church at the end of Las Palmas would have been an immediate giveaway for me. There's even a little bit of it in the photo, but not enough to be recognizable. If you lived in Hollywood, the sight of that church from the Boulevard is as iconic as the Miceli's sign or the newsstand or the Gold Cup.
Question for BK: Could the beautiful old streetlamp on the right at least have identified the locale as Hollywood, or were those prevalent all around town? And are any of that style left, perhaps in some of the residential streets in the hills? I loved that style even when I lived there.
-
However, I regret to say that as a geography nut -- and an L.A. geography nut in particular -- I'm afraid I have to send these notes back to the author for correction. The Bekins building is SOUTH of Santa Monica Blvd., not north of it.
That was a test, right? I didn't even have to consult a map. How did I do? :)

So, my latest, um, "problem"?
Cinnamon raisin toast. Just polished off the last two slices of a loaf of Thomas' cinnamon raisin bread.
It's partly because it's is an easy way to get the flavor of cinnamon rolls themselves, with or without raisins, but of course without all the work and all the rest of what's good about cinnamon rolls, so... a poor man's quick cinnamon roll fix?
Their cinnamon raisin English muffins are wonderful, too. You have to slice or fork-split them yourself, but hey, what's ten extra seconds of hard labor when the reward is so damned close?
But wait. Did I say "problem"? Don't look at me like that. What "problem"? I CAN STOP ANY TIME...
-
I meant south - fixed in the notes.
-
Why am I up?
-
They had those street lamps elsewhere when I was a child. I had a feeling from the start that this was Hollywood. I thought Ivar first and the Ivar Theater - then Cahuenga for LeGrand, but there are no older buildings left there. I have no idea why the small theater I went to most didn't pop into my head right away.
-
Why am I up?

Why am I up?
If you keep asking, we could be on page 2 pretty soon.

Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
I am not caught up.

I enjoyed the detective work and photos in the notes.
-
DR MICHAEL G have fun in Hawaii!
-
Allison Hayes is in the Perry Mason episode this morning on ME Tv.....the Case of the Captain's Coins.

The Rhythm Dance long program starts on USA Network at 1:45 p.m.

It should be quite a barn burner - as they say.

My question for ASK BK DAY.
Do you have a favorite film performance of Mr. Victor Mature?
-
I remember Barry Gordon.
-
From DR John,
The big change this time is no overtly political attire. Before you couldn’t wear something or someone that was on the ballot. This time, no MAGA hats, no anything pro or anti Republican or Democrat. Pride shirts are okay, though.
Excellent changes.
-
DR MichaelG, enjoy Maui.
-

It worked fin. I'm glad you mentiond to use the back button. Congrats on solving the mystery.

And now, I must perform my morning ablutions, then hie myself to Lakewood for my dermatology appointment, then lunch somewhere. :)
Until later!

Test
-
Say, it worked! I was forbidden from posting yesterday and this morning.
-
Barry Gordon was always fun to watch.
There was, for me, a little uncanny valley vibe with him, like in Clowns he seemed like an adult pretending to be a kid pretending to be an adult.
-
LOL DR RODZINSKI this is true.
-
He was around 17 when the film came out, so he almost was an adult. Likable dude though.
-
Gene Saks though, his performance is either excellent or terrible because I really just want to punch him and end that scene about 2 minutes after it starts.
-
Not that I was asked, but Victor Mature in Violent Saturday is my jam.
-
My mom’s claim to fame? Had Victor Mature’s mother on her ward at a care home she was at during her nurses training years in Kentucky.
-
I love Violent Saturday.
-
I'm up, I'm up. About five and a half hours of sleep.
-
I love Victor Mature in just about everything, with two films that really stand out for me: I Wake Up Screaming and his wonderful turn making fun of himself in After the Fox.
-
We must reach page 3 before 3 pm (Eastern)
-
We must! (almost a Pillow Talk Doris Day reference)
-
There's just no way around it.
-
No way of not getting to it.
-
We can reach it by railway
-
We can reach it by Trailways

I don't care how we get there

I cancelled my dermatology appointment for tomorrow not wanting to go when I don't feel well.
-
Say, it worked! I was forbidden from posting yesterday and this morning.
I haven't had any trouble posting today. Yesterday was difficult.
-
My mom’s claim to fame? Had Victor Mature’s mother on her ward at a care home she was at during her nurses training years in Kentucky.
Cool.
-
Phil Donahue's mother had a very nice room at the very nice nursing home in Michigan that Echo & I volunteered at.
-
After the gym we did our monthly trip to the specialty pharmacy in Portland to pick up my injections.
-
On the way home traffic was delayed due to an accident.
-
We saw this bumper stick while slowly passing a car.

Now, I'm at a combined A&W/KFC getting 2-for-$8 deal: a fish sandwich and a (smallish) double cheeseburger.

Good, and I hope your appointment went well.

My kind of fast food meal - Surf and turf!
-
We have no A&Ws around here, but I sure wish we did.
Last ones I was at were one of the older ones at Lake George, NY, and one in the Dallas suburbs. The Lake George one was just A&W like it always had been, and the cheeseburger was as delicious as always. The Dallas one was combined with Long John Silver's, and the A&W cheeseburger was wonderful there, too, but I wish I'd also gone back for some fish. That's the combination I'd love to have here - A&W and LJS.
-
Good afternoon.
-
Interesting results so far for most TOD....and I cannot vote against them....but I will say that MY vote will be for..... KISS OF DEATH.
-
The results of the for the Gold Medal for the ice Dance was controversial...but my vote would have to go for the team from GBE for their routine to the bagpipes of Scotland.
-
I love the US team of Maddy and Evan......but give it up, kids....you aren't GOLD MEDAL winners.
-
My prediction is a divorce and a coming out within 18 months.
-

That was fun :)

Just heard that my old pal Bud Cort passed away.

Sad. It was so close. That has to make it harder.

I hope not.

I'm sorry :(

Very good.

I think that I forgot to mention Keith got Wordle in four.
When he told me what the word was I said he should have gotten it sooner ;D
-
We are about to watch the first episode of a new miniseries called "Adolescense".
-
Bud Cort! No! Sad to hear it. Sorry, BK.

It did. I'm getting a new prescription for my scalp, then i won't have to go back for two months.

Just heard that my old pal Bud Cort passed away.
Oh, no. :( My condolences, BK.

And I just read that James Van Der Beek has died, too. :(
-
He would've turned 49 years old next month.

Images in the notes are fixed. Tomorrow he'll see what's what with the avatars. On Friday or the weekend, the board will go down for a couple of hours again while they split the board to its own thing so it's not tied to the notes part - that will solve most of what's been plaguing us.
-
I'll have an update on the avatars tomorrow.

Yay!
-
Dozed off for a couple of hours.
-
So, last week, I bought this direct video-to-digital recorder.
-
You just hook up the small, rechargeable-battery-powered, handheld unit to a VCR with RCA cables and it records directly onto a microSD card or a USB thumb drive that you install into the unit, and it creates an .MP4 file.
-
It works pretty well, but it also seems to not recognize the copy-guarding on VHS tapes! ;)
-
So, I experimented with a couple of purchased VHS tapes that have not been released on DVD, and it easily made digital files of my purchased VHS tapes! :D
-
So, it should work with others as well...assuming that the VHS tapes aren't corrupted. ::)

Today we visited the observatories at Haleakalā, up at 10,000 feet. Our faculty lecturer on this tour did research both here and at Mauna Kea, which we'll see later in the trip.
-
Our bus driver was bragging to his colleagues about taking us up to the telescopes, which doesn't happen often since they're closed to the public.
-
So sorry for the loss of your friend and colleague, bk.

Tonight, I put together a shelf unit for Shelly.
-
It took me several hours because there were soooo many pieces! :P
-
It wasn't difficult, just time consuming.
-
It does look really nice, though.
-
I'll try to remember (a The Fantasticks reference ;) ) to take a picture when we can upload again.
-
Page five.
-
Ridic.
-
And rather inane.
-
Not to mention a pain.
-
And a bane.
-
We should be raising Cain.

Or using our brain.
-
Pulling the chain.
-
But no, we're going down the drain.

Like a farce by Michael Frayn.
-
C'mon let's gain.

What do you say, dear reader Jane?
-
Stay in our lane.
-
Fly on a plane.
-
The rain in Spain.
-
Faster than a speeding train.
-
Come back, Shane.
-
And don't make a stain.

Why do we wane?

Film with a crane.

I've seen them.

I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
