Well, you've read the notes, the notes made hash of the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the hashed cows come home.

And the word of the day is: LOVELING!

Good morning.

Well, that WAS a disappointing breakfast.

Vixmom, what a story! I'm glad you received good care. If you can stand it, try coconut water. It has the electrolytes, without the sugar in Gatorade. It's vile, but with time you'll get used to it. The Vita-Coca in the white box that says "pressed" is much tastier than the regular. That can help replenish the electrolytes, which plain water can't do. An M.D. friend told me that.
-
I love corned beef so much that I'd eat a pile of it by itself. But when it's on the menu as corned beef HASH, that word should be taken as more than a "suggestion".
And hard overcooked eggs? Even worse, in my own pie hole's opinion.
-
The cans of Hormel (or Libby, that also seems like a good one) corned beef hash are a guilty pleasure here. I grew up on that and the roast beef hash - not as an everyday thing, but we always liked them now and then.
We recently tried a can of the roast beef hash for the first time in years, and I didn't find that one so tasty now. But the corned beef, yeah man, bring it on. We don't just heat it. We take a little extra time frying it up and getting it slightly crispy, for better texture and flavor. And yes, those egg yolks had better be runny. (Agree about runny whites. Can't stand that.)
-
The first and finest corned beef hash I ever had at a restaurant (excluding diner type places) was at the Carnegie Deli (may it R.I.P.) in NYC when my company had just moved to the east coast. I already knew the Carnegie from earlier visits, but the others didn't, and a few of us ordered the hash one evening for dinner. It was incredible. Everything about it was perfect. The couple of times I've taken the trouble to make some myself, my memories of that meal are the goal.
-
At the lower end of the scale, I ordered it for breakfast at a diner here a few years back, and was disappointed to find it was JUST the canned variety in spite of being described as a "specialty" or some such. And of course it wasn't lovingly crisped in a skillet like we do at home. It might as well have just been popped into the microwave for a quick heating.
I love the canned stuff, like I said, but it's a whole different thing from a real homemade corned beef hash with, you know, real corned beef. Restaurants should state it like it is, either way, and I'll be happy.
-
I had better stop now and let somebody else say something.
-
I can't eat runny egg yolks. I break the yolks and cook them all the way.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Hash.
I guess you have many in stock until you run out!
-
Oh my DR VIXMOM what a story.
Yes, I had a bad experience with dehydration last summer.
Hope you are feeling better and I'm glad your house survived.
-
Some Perry Mason episodes seem to be three hours long.
-
I may cook something today.
Time will tell.
-
Very overcast this morning.
It is 59 degrees with a feels like of 57 degrees. The promise is a high of 69 degrees at 3 p.m.
Bring it on!
-
I have a lingering cold myself.
-
Get ready for a page turn.
-
PAGE TWO.
-
vixmom, sending health vibes of all sorts to you. Sounds like last night was a scary experience.
-
Sunny blue sky and sunshine.
I don't know where I am.
-
DR MichaelG, I am enjoying traveling with you.
-
DR Vixmom, I think Vixdad had the right idea driving you to urgent care.
-
90/70 BP looks about normal to me though mine was slightly higher at my doctor's appointment this morning.
-
70/40 is very scary. I have never been that low that I know of.
-
DR Vixmom, OMG now it is really scary. I'm glad you were at the doctor's office and are here today to tell your story.
-
I was guessing streph or the new, horrible flu going aroung.
-
From Vixmom,
I understand I scared the beejeebers out of poor Vixdad as while I was out words like "stroke" and "cardiac event" were being bandied about by the medical folk on hand
Poor Vixdad.
-
Sorry, I am laughing at all of the old lady questions they asked you.
-
LOL, right, they ask everyone those questions.
-
CONTINUED GET WELL VIBES FOR DR VIXMOM!
-
Mega vibes for Vixmom.
-
Work has been steady all morning.
-
Both parties have lots to vote on.
-
Back from the supermarket, where it didn't even occur to me to buy HASH. It should have, but it didn't.
Next time. We're due for a blowout HASH-y breakfast.
But it's also only a month till St. Patrick's Day when I'll be cooking up my annual feast. I might buy extra corned beef to make HASH from afterwards.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six and a half hours of sleep.
-
I always make the Hormel hash in a frying pan with either some dried onions or real onions.
-
I could have that today or I could have Wacky Noodles, which I haven't had in a while.
-
Decisions, decisions.
-
Work has been steady all morning.
This is good.

Both parties have lots to vote on.
What do you consider of greater importance?

I have read the notes. I never liked corned beef hash so that sounded rather bad to begin with.

The eggs sounded disgusting.

I don't like coconut water or Gatorade but will drink them in an emergency. I suspect it can be hard to know if one is dehydrated.
-
I can't eat runny egg yolks. I break the yolks and cook them all the way.
I'm like Bruce and need the whites cooked but am ok with runny. Unlike him, I do not like them over easy.
-
I have a lingering cold myself.
Feel better vibes!
-
I never order eggs over easy. I am very specific and always say over medium, no runny whites but yellow must run.
-
I would think the yold would be cooked more in medium.
-
Sometimes my sunny side up come easy. If still runny I will eat them.
-
Jane, I don't particularly like coconut water, either. It's medicinal for me. I'm outside in the mornings in the summer, so I know I get a bit dehydrated. I can tell when I am. So far, coconut water corrects it pretty quickly. The one in the white box is better, though.
-
I always drink some while filling out the paperwork before a blood donation. Just to pre-replenish what they are going to take out.
-
"Pre-replenish" doesn't make sense. But you know what I mean.
-

It's a good word, though. :)
-

Excellent idea. I try to drink water before having lab work done. These days they take far more vials than they used to take.
-
"Preplenish" would be an excellent word.
-
I had to wait several minutes before I could try to connect again.
-
This morning I thought my BP was a wee high at 114/64. Not really high, just up there for me.
-
That took awhile to post.
-
Nothing slow here at the moment.
-
Wacky Noodles were very good.
-
Wednesday afternoon greetings! I have been unable to log in here for a couple of weeks without getting a scary message about “this site may not be secure.” Finally, today that message did not pop up, so here I am!
-
Glad to hear that DR Vixmom is on the mend.

HASH.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Is there a particular role that you didn't get that you think would have made a definitive difference in your tv/movie career?
-
Weather wise it is still a nice day in Indiana.

Did I say this recently? I watched Gabe Kaplan on a comedy show on YouTube. He was the emcee. His opening monologue was quite funny. Good to see him back in the game.
-
Thanks for vibes Singdaw. I went yesterday and interviewed at a newspaper in regular Washington. Loved the people. Just don’t think I could commute that far for what they want to pay. Possibly if the offered me a part time thing I could do along with my current gig, I’d consider that. But it was fun to go on an interview.
-
Get well to Vixmom!
-
My dad used to make hash when my mom wasn’t home. It grossed us kids all out. Though I don’t think we understood what it even was.

Jrand - I came very close to Richie Brockelman - I think had I gotten it the show might have lasted. I also think if I'd been able to do the role I did have in The Adventures of Freddie that that would have sold but chicken pox said no. I think if the George Kennedy pilot had sold, that would have been a good series and would have done me well. But as they say ad nauseam in Merrily We Roll Along - never look back.
-
We missed the sign at the gym today telling us it will be closed tomorrow while they set up new equipment.
-
Fortunately our neighbor saw the sign and told Keith.
-
Tomorrow we will go to a different location.

Kind of a wash, vibewise. If they offer me it, I probably can’t take it. It’s an hour and change with no trouble at the Peace Arch border.

Hi, KevinH!
-
Friday at one the board will come down again and they'll finally do their thing. Looks like the avatar thing, which is a separate thing, may have to be reloaded from scratch - doesn't mean we'll have to do anything, but they can't get it to work at this point and it's baffling them.

Slept for two hours.

On the plane home I watched the movie version of Les Miz, which I'd never seen before. I never even heard the musical until about a year ago, when I listened to different cast recordings. I'm looking forward to seeing it on stage in the West End in a couple months.

I very much enjoyed the movie version, though it would be better on a big screen. It's streaming on Prime now.

I've seen the movie, and I saw it live twice in Seattle...two different national tours.
-
I also have several caat recorings, and a few in non-English languages.
-
Must write some damn notes and get to bed early because I have to be out of here by nine to go pick up two heavy boxes - the Applause material - which was sent to Doug's apartment. A pain, but it must be done.
