Well, you've read the notes, the notes were chosen, and now it is time for you to post until the chosen cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EQUANIMOUS!

So last night, I worked concessions for one of the programs for the Emerald City Music (https://emeraldcitymusic.org/about) chamber music series. The featured singer was Mikaela Bennet (https://www.mikaela-bennett.com/), who, I didn't find out until just a few minutes ago when I looked her up, sang the role of Julie Jordan on the recent World Première Complete Recording of Carousel (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9HQ1JJ9/)!

I thought that she was a young, up-and-coming (but very good) opera singer, but no! She's got the chops and a lot of experience already. She and the whole concert were wonderful. :)
-
Today, my housemate Shelly and I are planning on seeing the nation tour of The Wiz...but in Portland! My friend David got two tickets at a discount ($40 each...but I don't know what the regular price is) and he can't go, so we're going. He does still need to send me the ticket information, though, but hopefully, he'll do that before we head out. :-\
-
Good morning.
-
Unpopular opinion: I like Carousel. I think the music is beautiful. Some folks say the show is problematic.
-
I marked that Carousel album on Spotify, George. It looks like it will be good.
-
BK, that's wonderful that you have Doug Haverty so willing and able to give you so many options!
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR Elmore, how old are your cats? Leonard is 7.5
-
The only avatar I now see is DR Jrand75, and - I know it's taking time - I find this impossible to deal with. Also, the site is moiving very vslowly.

Mikaela was Penelope in the Encores! production of The Golden Apple. She's good on this recording, but I still hate John Wilson's speedy tempi for the Carousel Waltz and Hornpipe.
-
I will return when I can see some avatars. I have enough stress off the computer.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
BUT ALIVE!
-
I am going out for a haircut this afternoon.
-
Lately, I hate to leave the house for any reason.
-
I have no idea what teams are playing at today's Bad Bunny concert.
-
We will miss you, DR elmore3003, but I completely understand the sentiment.

Goof morning, all.

It's Sunday, it's zero degrees, and I've got work to do today - in both the piano department and the book reading department.
At least I'm not outside cleaning up sh snow.
-
Yes, it's amazing how many visual clues the avatars give us, and how they streamline the reading or navigation of a site like this one.
It would be the same if sites like Home Theater Forum or Criterion Forum or - you name it - were suddenly without their avatars. We don't think of them as something we actually depend on, but there it is.

That's an interesting point! It may be which sites you're used to reading. I'm so used to reading the comments sections of the Times which really have no avatars other than the screen name, or All that Chat where it's just the screen name next to the postings. And while Facebook has profile photos next to the comments, they're so small that the profile photos don't identify anyone for me

Happy Sunday!!! On the new Broadway Radio Show, it's all about silver screen musicals as author Tom Hischak joins me to talk about his new book, Bringing Song & Dance to the Screen: Directors of Golden Age Hollywood Musicals. Check it out:

LOL thanks DR singdaw - I think I will watch The Olympics.

It is 24 degrees with a feels like of 20 degrees and headed for 31 degrees.
Bring it on!

I greet thee!
-
I say this not to complain, but so the tech wizards may know what’s going on (they may already know): I can not access the notes. The page opens, partially, but image links are broken, can’t see text. And then avatars are just avatar roulette.
-
But I’m still here, as the song goes!
-
Does anyone of you recall seeing Scopitones back in the time of their original existence? I learned of them in the ‘90s via a bootleg VHS.
-
It was like discovering gold.
-
Fred, what was that country rib & BBQ place on like 11th Ave and 48th or so? Daisy Mae’s? They had great dry rub ribs. Maybe the only thing I liked there.
-
DR Singdaw, the curling stone facts were interesting. Thank you.
-
From DR John,
Lesson of the day: Don’t top your pie crust with cinnamon sugar. It burns.
:o
Or mayble let it cool a bit first ;)
-
I think I would prefer raisin pie without custard. I like my custard pie smooth.
-
George, thanks for the contrats last night.
-
DR George, it has been raining here as well.
-
We watched The Muppet Show when it originally aired. I'm surprised I haven't been interested in watching the new Muppet Show.

I am in a text messaging group regarding a mutual friends health. I know everyone in the group and have most of their numbers in my contacts so I know who is texting. Still, we all sign our names at the end of the text to avoid confusion. Instead of signing at the end, what if we type our names at the top of the post?

The hack is back and I can't read the notes either. I'm looking forward to the tech folks finishing the job of securing the site, fixing images, etc.
-
But I can't upload the picture yet. :(
-
For Super Bowl counter-programming, we're going to a Philharmonia Baroque concert of Handel and Rameau this afternoon. Though it gets done before the Super Bowl starts.
-
The Super Bowl is ten miles from our house. It's been loud listening to the Blue Angels practice their flyover.
-
I am going out for a haircut this afternoon.
Hope you get a good one, Singdaw. I need to get my hairs cut soonly, too.

Yep, the notes page hack is back. :(
-
In the meantime, I'm recording piano accompaniments for our singers to practice with for this little program on Friday,
and READING A FUN BOOK. :)
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe three hours of sleep.
-
I was in bed by twelve-twenty. And then the hand and foot cramping began. Up many times during the evening - hours of up. Finally got two hours from nine to eleven.
-
Sorry about the cramping.

Have fun DR GEORGE.

Japan and the US are now TIED in the Team Ice Skating Competition.
It is up to Illya Malanin to bring it home....
-
When I hooked up my new 4K streaming box - I just unplugged the HDMI cable from the old box and plugged it into the new one.....so I switched out the old cable and put the new one from my tv to the new box.....and it seems to be working okay now.
-
Also kept looking at my sound bar and the remote....it uses a small disk battery about the size of a nickel.
I had put it in the holder upside down....now it's working fine.
-
I guess I should have come to the US on an Einstein Visa....as some others have.

I recall they had a local TV spot with an actress attempting the worst southern accent of all time.

Good afternoon, all.

I had problems getting into today’s notes. I kept on being taken to two different pages. Luckily I have 5he “index page” in my history so I was able to get here that way.
-
I thought I had checked in earlier.
-
Four!
-
Been reading today. And dancing. And churching.
-
LOL DR RODZINSKI.
-
DR singdaw is getting a haircut on Sunday?
Heathen!
-
The results of the team competition were most excellent.
Watch if you can.
-
Doris Day was mentioned in the notes.
Yesterday I had the misfortune to watch CAPRICE which is Doris doing her WIG ACTING at its most irritating......even with Richard Harris.
-
What is the first movie you saw Doris Day in?
My guess is for me By The Light Of The Silvery Moon on tv of course.
Loved it. She and Gordon MacRae were so good together.
-

I've watched some and am looking for more to watch. Who do you think deserved to win vs who won?

My guess is the first I saw was "With Six You Get Eggroll" - It was on a double bill with Elvis in "Clambake"
-
Or maybe it was "Where Were You When the Lights Went Out?" which IIRC we saw at Radio City Music Hall

It is hard to remember. It could have been this, or On Moonlight Bay.

Notes were hacked AGAIN and have been down all day. They're trying to fix it now. Infuriating.
-
Nice audience today - so I stayed for act one - lots of laughs, but cast is getting too sloppy for my taste AND we're putting in two or three changes for the rest of the run, so they have to be ready for that. I've tried to be very nice and up in my notes, but when the same things keep happening, it's time for some tough love.
-
DR JANE without a spoiler - I must say that it turned out exactly as i hoped it would.
-
Director Tough Love is great MR BK.
Go for it.
-
DR JANE sometimes in her later movies Doris was obviously wearing a wig and played with it with her fingers and tossed her head and let it lead her.....started probably with Do Not Disturb and The Glass Bottom Boat....very distracting.
-
But I'm sure it saved her hours in the hairdressing chair.
-
DR JANE without a spoiler - I must say that it turned out exactly as i hoped it would.
I'm glad. To confirm, you agreed with the scores for the preformances?
I've been watching videos which have basically been for team America. I'm having trouble finding the other skaters. I'm sure eventually they will come up. What I've seen was exceptional, I just can't compare them to the other skaters.
-

Distracting yes, I just didn't realize they were wigs.

But I'm sure it saved her hours in the hairdressing chair.
True.

I hope I sleep tonight and wake up tomorrow feeling better, and do not have a raw throat.

Thank you. I think I will take half a Benedryl and hope it clears up the phlegm I keep gagging on at night. I'm fine during the day.
-
The notes are back, hooray! Congratulations on the new book cover.
-
The Philharmonia Baroque concert was excellent. The chorus was simply spectacular in the Handel Dixit Dominus.
-
Once we were home, the Blue Angels did their flyover and it was LOUD!

~~~Cooked* Throat Vibes for Jane!!~~~
*A.k.a. No Longer Raw!!
-
And now, the show!!
-
The Bad Bunny halftime show was pleasantly put together.
-
Just finished episode 5 of season 4 of the LINCOLN LAWYER. No spoiler here, but the last twenty seconds were breathtaking - one of the most startling (yet in thinking about it it was so logical and well set-up) ends of an episode I've seen in a TV series in a long time. We're choosing to stop for the night, let what happened sink in, and not keep going right away to episode 6. Such good writing.
-
Elliott Gould's scenes on LINCOLN LAWYER seem so tentative this season somehow. I'm very surprised they didn't do some serious reshooting for his appearances in episode 5, for example.
-
Move Over, Darling; or With Six You Get Eggroll.
-
Or maybe Please Don’t Eat the Daisies. One of those three for sure.
-
~~~HEALING VIBES~~~ for DR Jane!!!

Congratulations, DR George, on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!

Good night, friends.

I think The Glass Bottom Boat was my first Doris Day movie. Pajama Game and The Man Who Knew too Much are my favorites.
-
Congratulations, George.
-
Dancing was strange tonight.
-
I was probably a little too tired.
-
I spent a good time reading.
-
But it’s time to wind down.
-
I have junior high special ed tomorrow.
-
Then dinner with friends.
-
One more.
-
Six!
-
I love The Wiz. Hope you’re enjoying it, George.
-
Good night, all.
-
I dozed off from 5:00 to 7:30, then from 7:30 to 9:00. Now it's ten.
-
That’s a Doozy of a Doze!
-
Notes are working - a little slow, but he's keeping his eye on them and hopefully posting the new notes won't be problematic.
-
New notes are written.

Then dinner with friends.
Enjoy!
-
I love The Wiz. Hope you’re enjoying it, George.
I did, except for the head right in front of me that blocked most of center stage. ::)
-
So, I was leaning back and forth a lot.
-
On the way down, we passed an accident on the left side of the freeway. :-\
-
A couple of police cars had just gotten there (one of them passed us on the left shoulder) and people were standing on the side of the road, but Shelly said that she saw someone still in the car. :(
-
On our way back north, we saw TWO accidents!
-
The first was on the right side of the north-bound I-5, and a fire truck was putting out a fire that the two cars were engulfed in! :o
-
I don't think I had ever seen an accident before that had flames...lots of smoke, yes, but not actual flames.
-
Then further north but on the south-bound side, it looked like a semi with a couple of trailers had tipped over. There were already a lot of emergency vehicles on that side.
-
Fortunately, we didn't get into any trouble, but it wasn't a good night for driving.
-
New nots are up.
-
And all three accidents were in Washington. I don't know if that means anything, though. ::)
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
We're almost to Page Rupert!
-
And now...
-
...since we're so close, let's go ahead and turn to...
-
SEVEN'S PAGE RUPERT!!
