And a Very Happy Birthday to the original DR Michael (who is not the newest DR, MichaelG)!!
-
Yes, a very happy birthday to Michael Shayne, who doesn't come around these here parts very much anymore. Hope he stops by.
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR Laura, I am feeling much better this morning. Stella is, too, I think. She drove me up the wall while I was preparing their breakfast.
-
I slept well.
-
Yesterday Doug sent me my second section of the ballet as a digitized piano reduction and an mp3 file. I rather happy with it.
-
Today the cats get get a new cat tree, so I must clean out and vacuum the old one and the area around it.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Zero degrees here.
Zero. Zilch. Nada. We are a people with no degrees.
-
TOD
I love hot sandwiches. Just as much as I love cold ones. Name one, and I probably love it.
BK mentioned Po' Boys and Catfish. I've never had either. But in the New Orleans vein, I've had a hot Muffuletta which I gathered isn't the norm for those, but it was served at one of the great places in the French Quarter and was wonderful. Cold or hot, just lay 'em on me.
-
Saturday!
-
Happy Birthday DR MICHAEL S/
-
Back to that temperature repor for a moment:
We were -8 again at the local airport early this morning. That's been confirmed. And "Accu" says that's still where we are.
But Apple, one of the richest corporations in the world, says we've made it to 5 degrees. Who am I to believe?
-
It is 10 degrees here with a feels like of 11 degrees.
-
TOD:
Philly Cheesesteak
Meatloaf sandwich
-
And of course I also enjoy a nice hot Sloppy Joe.
-
DR Jrand75 just named a few of my favorite things.
-
Happy birthday, Michael Shayne!
-
Good morning.
-
Glad the Elmore family is feeling better.
-
I miss sandwiches. I'm not eating bread often at all. I need to take off the 7 pounds I gained over the holidays.
-
By "holidays," I mostly mean Halloween.
-

Hot sandwiches:
Meatball
Meatloaf
Burgers, of course. I can never pass a burger
Hot pastrami on rye with Swiss and sauerkraut
Chicken-fried chicken sandwiches
A lobster roll with butter
A fried fish sandwich with plenty of tartar sauce
A bun filled with just-sauteed vegetables and olives
-
Two!
-
I’m hungry.
-
I also like most chicken sandwiches.....and my favorite fast food burger is the Whopper w/cheese.
-
Wonderful Facebook memory today.

From DR John,
It took forever to get home because of road construction. Truly nightmarish. They closed four lanes down to one going north. The entire southbound interstate was closed.
Groan. I should stop complaining about a small stretch that is being worked on near us. The work should only take several months ::)
-
John, kudos for your former mayor and his assistant.
-
DR Kevin I'm glad you got Wordle yesterday.
-
John, kudos for your former mayor and his assistant.
Ditto to that! Very impressive!
-
Bruce, I see you answered my question in the notes today. It really was very good news at your appointment yesterday.
My motto getting off prednisone is slow and steady. Over and over, on the support groups I follow, is doctors reduce too quickly and then there are setbacks.
-
That's awesome, JRand. Where do they get these things???
-
Zero degrees here.
Zero. Zilch. Nada. We are a people with no degrees.

Topic of the Day: in general, meatball sandwiches are usually really good, the "Combo" (sliced turkey, ham, and chicken) Cosmo-style (which is toasted) at the local Meconi's is really good, the local Pellegrino's has a wonderful (and the best in town!) Monte Cristo sandwich, and the local Red Wagon has a great chicken cheesesteak. :)
-
And of course I also enjoy a nice hot Sloppy Joe.
Ooo...Sloppy Joe's are good, too.
-

I love a good barbecued pulled pork sandwich with pickles and onions. How could I forget my beloved barbecue?
-
Sloppy Joes are similar.
-
Demond Wilson has died. I enjoyed him in The New Odd Couple with Ron Glass. And of course, Sanford and Son was a favorite when I was a kid.

I miss sandwiches. I'm not eating bread often at all. I need to take off the 7 pounds I gained over the holidays.
I too miss them. Yesterday I splurged and had egg salad on half a piece of lightly toasted sour dough bread. I'm struggling with my weight but I blame the prednisone on that.
-
By "holidays," I mostly mean Halloween.
:))

Almost as funny as " If the Melania documentary was shown on a plane, the audience would still walk out."
-
My favorite hot sandwich is a good veggie burger, preferably bean, on a bun with tomato, lettuce, and avacado.
-
I like a good imitation bacon, lettuce, and tomato with mayo.
-
Grilled cheese, which I haven't had in years, was always a favorite.
-
I'm stealing DR John G's list and modifying it
Meatball
Meatloaf
Burgers
Sloppy Joes
Hot dogs with sauerkraut and mustard or with chili, chopped onion, and grrated cheddar
Hot pastrami on rye with Swiss and sauerkraut
A lobster or shrimp roll with butter
A fried fish sandwich with plenty of tartar sauce
Grilled cheese with either Campbell's tomato soup or chili
Sausage with peppers and onions
-
:))

LOL!!!
-
TOD: My favorites are a meatball sub, and a Philly-style roast park with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone. Grilled chicken and grilled cheese are also good.
-
Around 2:00 Ann and Jen arrived with a newly constructed cat tree an d carted off to the basement the old one. Annabelle and Stella claimed it immediately while Thatch is still debating if he likes it.
-
Futzed and finessed, sent off 100 pages to Muse Margaret and let her know. I'm taking a break and then I'll try to write a few new pages.

How the fat hell do we attach a photo? I still get this message The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved.

On SCREENPIX I just watched a curious Italian film from Italy in 1960.
I had seen an English dubbed version of it on TV a long time ago - but this one was Italian with English subtitles. The title: The Vampire and the Ballerina.
So you can guess what it was about.
-
Some of favorite parts:
The two choreographers who were guys and HOT for all the women.
The vampire countess who wore a 400 year old dress - with a zipper up the back.
The two BIG choreographed numbers that made Elvis Presley movie dancing look like it had been staged by Jerome Robbins.
The guy playing the piano for a improvised vampire number - and after 12 bars we not only had piano music but a full 7 or 8 piece combo at full blast.
-
I'm sure it's ON Demand at Screenpix or elsewhere.
Wikipedia tells me that there was a BluRay release a few years ago.

elmore, I've said it six times - things are being fixed - it's complicated, this was a major move, it still isn't quite complete, which is why avatars come and go for no reason. Please be patient, which I've also asked of everyone several times.

After two rainy days we had a lovely walk this afternoon. It is 57 degrees here :)

If I had realized that was AI I wouldn't have used it. It is pretty.
-
Our walk was also interesting as they were dredging a part of the river. I put a photo on Facebook in order to have a way to share it here.

WOW DR JANE that looks like quite an operation!
-
New SNL tonight.
I hope it's an improvement on the last two episodes.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Good news from bk on his doctor’s visit.
-
Hello everyone. I’ve been away for far too long. I promise I’ll return on a more regular basis. Thank you for all the good wishes.
-
Well, folks, I wussed out. I called the painter to tell him how unhappy I was with the lack of progress. I was ready to fire him. But he really wanted to finish the job, promised they would return on the following Monday (this was a week ago Thursday), and apologized for blaming me for the problems. I said OK, largely because I couldn’t get another painter that quickly. His crew returned, as promised, and the job is almost done now. They do nice work. The problem was that this job has special requirements due to my health issues. I explained this from the start and he seemed OK with it, but he proved to be rather inflexible. He’s used to doing things a certain way, using certain paints, and flatly refused to do some of what I asked. It was one battle after another. I am sooo glad it’s almost done.
-
Happy Birthday to Michael Shayne.
Hope you’re doing well.
-
I need a month — at least! — at a spa to recover!
-
WOW DR JANE that looks like quite an operation!
The boat on the right was making a lot of waves. I think the dredger was taking a break.
-
Just to keep things interesting, the Check Engine light came on in my car’s dashboard. I took the car to my mechanic the next day, a Saturday, but the guy who was needed wasn’t there on Saturdays. They fixed it on Monday,which was MLKDay, and all is now well. It needed a new alternator. The battery was old, so we replaced that, too. $2000.

At least he returned. It is extra frustrating that he said he could honor your requests and then didn't. Too many people simply don't understand the difficulty others have with certain chemicals when they aren't bothered.
-
DR Jeanne I hope you can get a day, or more, of rest.
-
A few days later I was flossing my teeth when suddenly my tooth — or part of it — flew across the room. Oops. That tooth had a chip in it, which I planned to mention to the dentist, but it apparently fractured as I flossed. That’s another $2000.
-
Thank you, Jane.
-
Since things often happen in threes I’m wondering if Thing #3 is yet to come or whether the day or so bout I had with some virus a few weeks ago counts as Thing #1 and we are done with this little stream of misfortune.

Has anyone watched Bookish? I liked it, but the season was too short.
How about Riot Women? (BritBox) I do enjoy Sally Wainwright’s work.
I’m currently revisiting Monarch of the Glen, an old favorite.
-
DR Jeanne, I think you missed that I now have an autoimmune disease called Giant Cell Arteritis. So far I am functioning just fine. As I reduce my prednisone it might become more difficult.

Good evening.

This afternoon we saw the tour of Beautiful Noise.
-
Biography of Neil Diamond.
-
I'll be glad if they ever stop with the biographical musicals. My least favorite genre. Well, that and most of the rock ones.
-
I was looking at Broadway.com or whatever it is, to see what's touring to get an idea of what might come next season. We've had most of them already. I hope we don't get repeats (or "pre-Broadway" tours of things that will never open).
-
What a shame you weren't thrilled with it.
-
Good luck with next season.
-
Wow, what an incredibly beautiful parade.
Chippewa Tribe Parade in Minnesota. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjEJJBequ8w)
-
I couldn't find any information on where this parade was, or if it is clips from multiple parades.
-
Had wings for food. My tummy wasn't happy with the last two I ate - very garlicky and too much so for me.
-
I dozed off for a couple of hours.
-
Wrote a couple of new pages.
-
Decided not to go out tonight, but to try and write another three or four pages and just relax.
-
Then Muse Margaret called and it was every bit as wonderful as her first call about this book. She's really taken with the story and plot and was very detailed in what she loved about the new batch. She only was confused about one sentence and so we looked at it and she was right and all it took to fix was inserting a single word.
-
So, onward we go.
-
Taking another small break now, then maybe a shower, then more pages.

~~~DENTAL VIBES~~~ for DR Jeanne!!!
Heading to a page turn.
-
Very soonly.
-
One more.
-
HELLO, RUPERT!!
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Jeanne, I have Bookish on reserve at the library.
-
I’m back at the shelter for one more night.
-
Been a long day.
-
Hi, Rupert!
-
Variety says Melania will open in third place for the weekend with a projected $8.2 million debut.
-
So far, RogerEbert.com has not reviewed it.
-
I wonder if they will.
-
Glad I stayed home. Six new pages, and I'll try for two or three more after another small break and a shower.
-
Just ordered a bowl of chicken soup and a grilled cheese sandwich from Mel's. They had a seven dollar off promotion, so it was pretty cheap. We like pretty cheap.
-
Home again. Last night at the shelter. The forecast for the next 10 days shows no evenings below freezing.
-
There was some drama tonight, but the regulars handled it easily.
-
Bless their ongoing efforts to help these people.
-
I’m knee-deep in an early Ann Patchett novel called Run. It’s a mixed effort. I like the story, but something about it seems to have been over- and underwritten. She wasn’t in full command of the gifts displayed in later books.
-
BL, glad Muse Margaret is still in love with the book.
-
I’m exhausted and need to be at church in a few hours.
-
But first …
-
Gratuitous post 199!
-
Hot sandwich post 200!
-
Good night, all.
-
Wrote another couple of pages and that should do it for this evening. I do have just a couple of little things to figure out as I head towards the end, but they're minor.
-
Soup was good, grilled cheese less so.
-
Now I must write some damn notes.
Due to lack of ticket sales, the Screen Machine's premiere of MELANIA has been relocated to a more appropriately sized venue. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Around 2:00 Ann and Jen arrived with a newly constructed cat tree an d carted off to the basement the old one. Annabelle and Stella claimed it immediately while Thatch is still debating if he likes it.
Very nice of Ann and Jen...as usual. When we can post pictures again, can you post a picture of it? :D
Well, folks, I wussed out. I called the painter to tell him how unhappy I was with the lack of progress. I was ready to fire him. But he really wanted to finish the job, promised they would return on the following Monday (this was a week ago Thursday), and apologized for blaming me for the problems. I said OK, largely because I couldn’t get another painter that quickly. His crew returned, as promised, and the job is almost done now. They do nice work. The problem was that this job has special requirements due to my health issues. I explained this from the start and he seemed OK with it, but he proved to be rather inflexible. He’s used to doing things a certain way, using certain paints, and flatly refused to do some of what I asked. It was one battle after another. I am sooo glad it’s almost done.
That's great that it's almost done, Jeanne, but it's too bad that you can't get it done the way you need it.
Just to keep things interesting, the Check Engine light came on in my car’s dashboard. I took the car to my mechanic the next day, a Saturday, but the guy who was needed wasn’t there on Saturdays. They fixed it on Monday,which was MLKDay, and all is now well. It needed a new alternator. The battery was old, so we replaced that, too. $2000.
Yikes! But they're fixed, so that's good.
-
A few days later I was flossing my teeth when suddenly my tooth — or part of it — flew across the room. Oops. That tooth had a chip in it, which I planned to mention to the dentist, but it apparently fractured as I flossed. That’s another $2000.
Noooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then Muse Margaret called and it was every bit as wonderful as her first call about this book. She's really taken with the story and plot and was very detailed in what she loved about the new batch. She only was confused about one sentence and so we looked at it and she was right and all it took to fix was inserting a single word.
That's wonderful, BK!
Just ordered a bowl of chicken soup and a grilled cheese sandwich from Mel's. They had a seven dollar off promotion, so it was pretty cheap. We like pretty cheap.
Cheap is always good...unless it's cheap in quality and not cheap in price.
Home again. Last night at the shelter. The forecast for the next 10 days shows no evenings below freezing.
That's great, John.
So, this afternoon, I went to see an entirely student run and produced production The Threepenny Opera at The Evergreen State College.
