TOD

I love hot sandwiches. Just as much as I love cold ones. Name one, and I probably love it.

BK mentioned Po' Boys and Catfish. I've never had either. But in the New Orleans vein, I've had a hot Muffuletta which I gathered isn't the norm for those, but it was served at one of the great places in the French Quarter and was wonderful. Cold or hot, just lay 'em on me.

From DR John,

Quote
It took forever to get home because of road construction. Truly nightmarish. They closed four lanes down to one going north. The entire southbound interstate was closed.

Groan.  I should stop complaining about a small stretch that is being worked on near us.  The work should only take several months  ::)

Bruce, I see you answered my question in the notes today.  It really was very good news at your appointment yesterday.

My motto getting off prednisone is slow and steady.  Over and over, on the support groups I follow, is doctors reduce too quickly and then there are setbacks.

Topic of the Day:  in general, meatball sandwiches are usually really good, the "Combo" (sliced turkey, ham, and chicken) Cosmo-style (which is toasted) at the local Meconi's is really good, the local Pellegrino's has a wonderful (and the best in town!) Monte Cristo sandwich, and the local Red Wagon has a great chicken cheesesteak. :)

On SCREENPIX I just watched a curious Italian film from Italy in 1960.

I had seen an English dubbed version of it on TV a long time ago - but this one was Italian with English subtitles. The title: The Vampire and the Ballerina.

So you can guess what it was about.

Some of favorite parts:

The two choreographers who were guys and HOT for all the women.

The vampire countess who wore a 400 year old dress - with a zipper up the back.

The two BIG choreographed numbers that made Elvis Presley movie dancing look like it had been staged by Jerome Robbins.

The guy playing the piano for a improvised vampire number - and after 12 bars we not only had piano music but a full 7 or 8 piece combo at full blast.

Well, folks, I wussed out. I called the painter to tell him how unhappy I was with the lack of progress. I was ready to fire him. But he really wanted to finish the job, promised they would return on the following Monday (this was a week ago Thursday), and apologized for blaming me for the problems. I said OK, largely because I couldn’t get another painter that quickly. His crew returned, as promised, and the job is almost done now. They do nice work. The problem was that this job has special requirements due to my health issues. I explained this from the start and he seemed OK with it, but he proved to be rather inflexible. He’s used to doing things a certain way, using certain paints, and flatly refused to do some of what I asked. It was one battle after another. I am sooo glad it’s almost done.

Just to keep things interesting, the Check Engine light came on in my car’s dashboard. I took the car to my mechanic the next day, a Saturday, but the guy who was needed wasn’t there on Saturdays. They fixed it on Monday, which was MLKDay, and all is now well. It needed a new alternator. The battery was old, so we replaced that, too. $2000.

At least he returned.  It is extra frustrating that he said he could honor your requests and then didn't.  Too many people simply don't understand the difficulty others have with certain chemicals when they aren't bothered.

Then Muse Margaret called and it was every bit as wonderful as her first call about this book. She's really taken with the story and plot and was very detailed in what she loved about the new batch. She only was confused about one sentence and so we looked at it and she was right and all it took to fix was inserting a single word.

Around 2:00 Ann and Jen arrived with a newly constructed cat tree an d carted off to the basement the old one. Annabelle and Stella claimed it immediately while Thatch is still debating if he likes it.

Very nice of Ann and Jen...as usual.  When we can post pictures again, can you post a picture of it? :D

That's great that it's almost done, Jeanne, but it's too bad that you can't get it done the way you need it.

Yikes!  But they're fixed, so that's good.

A few days later I was flossing my teeth when suddenly my tooth — or part of it — flew across the room. Oops. That tooth had a chip in it, which I planned to mention to the dentist, but it apparently fractured as I flossed. That’s another $2000.

Noooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then Muse Margaret called and it was every bit as wonderful as her first call about this book. She's really taken with the story and plot and was very detailed in what she loved about the new batch. She only was confused about one sentence and so we looked at it and she was right and all it took to fix was inserting a single word.

That's wonderful, BK!

Just ordered a bowl of chicken soup and a grilled cheese sandwich from Mel's. They had a seven dollar off promotion, so it was pretty cheap. We like pretty cheap.

Cheap is always good...unless it's cheap in quality and not cheap in price.
