Well, you've read the notes, the filet mignon of notes, and now it is time for you to post until filet mignon of cows come home.

And the word of the day is: FORTUNE!

Topic of the Day: not a fan of steak. :P

So, yesterday's first rehearsal had to be canceled. The director's husband (and this show's stage manager) was in an accident and his car* was totalled! :( MOST fortunately, he is fine. But, because of the accident and some other issues, we're not having rehearsals this week.
*I don't know if it was my former Ford Escort that I gave them, or their SUV that they had. :-\
-
Internet just went down. On the phone's hotspot for the time being.
-
Irritating.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I was up at 5:00 this morning. This is the day of my two and a hlaf hour assessment via Zoom for home healthcare. That begins at 9:00, and I need to have kitty cleanup and other errands finished by then.
-
5:00 is too early.
-
I, too, wish there were a 24-hour donut place that delivered.
-
After the Zoom meeting, I have no plans.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Up for jury duty.
-
My favorite steaks are the ones I grill myself. Costco ribeyes or New York strips covered in Montreal seasoning. Grilled five minutes on each side gor a beautiful medium rare.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
DR Jrand75, in answer to your question from last night:
I usually have light jazz playing. Gene Harris is a favorite.
-
Good morning, all.
-
~~~JURY DUTY VIBES~~~ for DR John G.!!!
-
Everyone deserves a great filet mignon.
-
Is the New York strip the other half of the Porterhouse? - the first half being the filet mignon? That would certainly make Porterhouse the king of steaks. A few of us used to enjoy sharing a big one at a place in L.A. whose name escapes me. Oh wait. Reuben's? I think so. Not a "fine" steak house like what BK is talking about, but a good, reliable place.
-
I just popped a Benadryl. Too much sneezing first thing in the morning, which will never do.
-
We have snow on the ground. Snow.
-
Something big called Cloudflare is down, affecting a lot of sites worldwide. I recognize the name, but I know not what they actually do, or what happened.
TOD: The best steaks I recall having were made here at home, received as a gift from a place called Allen Brothers.
If we really try, we can get to page 2 before 10 a.m. Eastern.
But we need to really try.
I was up at 5:00 this morning. This is the day of my two and a hlaf hour assessment via Zoom for home healthcare. That begins at 9:00, and I need to have kitty cleanup and other errands finished by then.
Vibes that Larry's appointment is going well!
-
TOD: We do great grilled steak and steak au poivre at home, but my favorite was the bistecca alla fiorentina on our last trip to Florence.
-
I've made it to Manhattan. Tonight's show is Ragtime.
-
Have fun DR MICHAELG - we look forward to your on the spot dispatches.
-
I hope DR ELMORE's ZOOM is going well.
-
When my baby sister was small, I used to watch ZOOM on PBS with her. I always enjoyed it.
-
So now we have TCM KIDS......I am not sure how I feel about this.
Well, yes I am sure.
But I will not comment until a few bumpers hit the air.
-
When my baby sister was small, I used to watch ZOOM on PBS with her. I always enjoyed it.
The "Boston, Mass 02134" in the ZOOM chant was even more famous to me that "Beverly Hills 90210"
-
Hmmmm.....being raised on Bonanza and Ponderosa I am sure that my steak palate is very unsophisticated.
But I do like the filet mignon. Sometimes I buy a box of bacon wrapped filets which I try to cook and not OVERCOOK.
-
Home from the getting place and things were gotten. In fact so many things were gotten (on purpose) I may not have to go back next week.
Boom! Suddenly I was back to the comments on September 12, 2012.
Google's AI provides more ZOOM info:
"The query "Boston, Mass 02134" refers to the zip code for the Allston-Brighton neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, which was famously associated with the WGBH-produced children's TV show ZOOM. The show used its address in the 1970s to encourage children to send in their own creative projects, making the zip code widely recognized among American children of that era."
I am reminded that my account as "Freddie" (which I'd opened the same day as removing my previous "FJL" account) was opened March 24, 2020, about two weeks into Covid hitting big in. Something must have been going on (having to do with Covid?) in some way that caused such a reaction - but it looks like my info as "FJL" is gone.
I've made it to Manhattan. Tonight's show is Ragtime.
One of my favorite shows, scores and sources. I think I read the book three times in high school, twice since.
Made it downtown on time despite traffic problems. Am waiting for the next phase after check-in.
I cannot imagine a two-and-a-half hour "assessment" or anything of the sort.
Have you seen it recently?
I wonder if when I deleted it, it was related to my concerns that the crooked lawyers for my crooked brother and his crooked wife were going back over old posts, trying to gather character info they felt should get me removed as our parents' executor.
February and March 2020 would have been the time THAT might have happened, since it was right after my Mom's hospital stay end of Feb. 2020 (into March 2020) that my Mom re-did her health proxy to put me first and made my brother second. My crooked brother and his crooked wife really hated that, and a lot escalated.
I’m celebrating by seeing s movie: The Running Man. It was the only one with a close running time.
I also celebrated by going to our only PB&J restaurant, which I had been meaning to try for a few years now. The owner always votes in my library and wears his shirt.
I had the Kitchen Sink: peanut butter, cream cheese, walnuts, coconut flakes, banana, bacon and blackberry-jalapeno jam.
DR RODZINSKI that's exactly what I thought it was - kind of a Kathleen Turner/Michael Douglas romcom type of thing.....
Far from it.....and all three leads were interesting, entertaining, and created very good characters.
-
David Hemmings day on TCM.
The Love Machine is on at 6 p.m. - somehow between all of those late 60's movies and 1971 Mr. Hemmings gained about 75 pounds.....it was kind of shock to see him.....but I shall watch anyway because Hemmings, John Phillip Law, and Dyan Cannon are always fun to see....especially in material originated by Jacqueline Susann.
-
I probably just thought I saw it. It makes more sense that you would have deleted it when you needed to take a break from public posts.
But I set up the "Freddie" account almost the same day as I dropped the "FJL" account. (Maybe BK told me don't be ridiculous or something like that?)
My Dad especially had the totally opposite reaction to what my sister-in-law was trying to show them as me being "shmeeruch" on the internet, that this reflected on the whole family somehow, as if who the heck knows who Hilary and Joann Landau are.
First, Mom and Dad were confused why was Joann even reading and printing out (and showing them) pages from a gay gossip site like DataLounge looking for these things about "Freddie" at all?
But more importantly to the parents - the same pages were also saying things like "Betty Buckley needs to go to Bellevue" or "Mandy Patinkin is a raving lunatic" - and Dad and Mom were seeing "Freddie" and the videos even being discussed at all, on these same DataLounge pages that were discussing Betty Buckley and Mandy Patinkin and Patti LuPone!!!
So this "shmeering" was not a negative to Dad and Mom the way Joann tried to paint it, especially because I continued to visit them regularly and stay with them with no sign of lunacy. To them it looked like a positive, like my work was getting out into the world - this came with the territory of putting your work and music out there into the world.
But Joann kept bringing stuff from the internet to them from my postings and when this strange group of people were posting online about how terrible and delusional I was.
My friend Bonnie died peacefully this afternoon.
She was a film noir fanatic, so in her memory, I am watching the reconstructed Touch of Evil, which was a favorite of hers.
My friend Bonnie died peacefully this afternoon.
:( I'm so sorry for your loss, John.
-
DR John, my condolences on the loss of your friend. It must be some comfort that Bonnie died peacefully.
Second Janet Leigh movie in two days. She could be really good. Manchurian Candidate and My Sister Eileen, too.
-
Thanks for the notes.
Is the ending of Touch of Evil the same as the ending of The Third Man? Woman walks off by herself?
-
So much loss for you recently, DR John G. I'm so sorry.
Reading up on how to remove candle wax from a tablecloth.
-
The other night I was hot, so we turned on the ceiling fan over the dining room table. Big mistake.
-
Which was rectified, but not soon enough.
Just a mistake in that I now have to figure out how to get the candle wax out of the tablecloth.
-
A first-world problem, I realize.
-
A friend of mine was trying to get to the Met to see Carmen the other night. They had to tangle with the Wicked: For Good phalanx out front.
-
I wonder what that film's promotional budget is.
-
A pretty penny, I'm sure.
-
An international junket.
-
I wonder if "Junk It Junket" would be a good name for a business.
-
Perhaps not.
-
So sorry for your loss, DR John G. May her memory be a blessing.
-
Ragtime was fantastic. Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy, and Brandon Uranowitz in the three biggest roles were all superb.
-
No Shaina Taub or Ben Levi Ross tonight, alas, but their understudies Kerry Conte and Nicholas Barrón were both excellent.
-
The first time I saw Ragtime was a few years ago in a community theater production. It was a wildly ambitious reach by that group. But the leads were generally cast well, the weak link being Sarah.
-
So glad, DR MichaelG!
-
So now I see it on Broadway and the weak link is still Sarah. Obviously way better than the community theater, and not a disaster by any means, but too much of a mush mouth for me.
-
Mine seemed to be a distinctly minority opinion, but I figured HHW readers could appreciate the nitpick.
-
Is Sarah particularly hard to cast for some reason?
-
I still could do without the Evelyn Nesbit character entirely, but the actress did well with it and was much less irritating than I'd seen before. The guy sitting next to me laughed at every "Whee" and goodness knows there are a lot of them.
-
When I saw the late-night clip of "Wheels of a Dream," I loved Joshua but wasn't enthralled with the actress singing Sarah.
-
I suppose Audra has large shoes to fill.
-
Good night, friends.
And others.
I suppose Audra has large shoes to fill.
True, but so did other members of the original cast and the rest held their own just fine.
Sorry to hear about Bonnie, John.
Gratuitous Post #200!!
DR JANE I was talking about the movie.
:))
I have actual virtigo on my mind since I have an inner ear issues causing me to have virtigo ;D
Weird! The first time I read this, I though you had written: ...causing me to hear virtigo.
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep - was up for two hours at five-thirty. And now, it's LATE. Food ordered from Jersey Mike's.
I almost went to Jersey Mike's today after my appointment, but I ended up going to Meconi's Italian Subs (https://www.meconissubs.com/) instead.
-
I got my usual Combo with pepperoni added, Cosmo style (toasted), and I added an order of chili.
-
The Combo sub was quite good, and the chili wasn't too bad. :)
-
DR GEORGE theeder can be dangerous.
I understand that.
I'm sure I am not remembering how quickly you deleted your old account. That is wonderful your parents knew you were not crazy and did not believe what your sister-in-law was saying. The whole situation is very sad.
But they and their lawyers WERE able to convince my parents' caregivers in Florida that I was not to be listened to in my parents' care.
(one of their Florida lawyers happening to be the same powerful Florida lawyer as Ghislaine Maxwell's!)
That's too bad, Freddie. :P
-
Keith got Wordle in three.
That's wonderful!
-
Thanks for the Wordle comments yesterday, DRs George and Jane!
You're welcome, Kevin!
Great, DR George!
Thanks, Kevin!
As for me, I had to settle for 5/6 in Wordle today
Good! It could've been worse. ;)
My friend Bonnie died peacefully this afternoon.
I'm so sorry, John. :(
-
The suggestion seems to be temp change: ice cubes first to freeze and get the bulk of it out; then a warm iron and paper towels.
Pray for Rosemary's baby.
I hope it all worked out, Singdaw!
-
Are you reprieved on accounta you're reprived?
;D
-
Ragtime was fantastic. Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy, and Brandon Uranowitz in the three biggest roles were all superb.
That's wonderful, Michael.
-
No Shaina Taub or Ben Levi Ross tonight, alas, but their understudies Kerry Conte and Nicholas Barrón were both excellent.
That's always good!
-
So now I see it on Broadway and the weak link is still Sarah. Obviously way better than the community theater, and not a disaster by any means, but too much of a mush mouth for me.
Oh, no. :-\
New notes are up.
